I've been wanting to see a Scarlet Tanager in my back yard for a very long time. I've seen a female twice, but today I saw a male in the yard for the first time. It flew down from the tree onto the water fountain on the deck so I got a couple of shots through the sliding door.
Then it flew into the tree and stayed up in the branches for nearly 1/2 hour. It was almost impossible to get a clear photo and when he finally posed in the sunlight my camera couldn't take the brightness and showed him nearly orange and/or yellow. This is the best I got - but now I've seen the Scarlet Tanager that I've been wanting. (Now I'm hoping for an Indigo Bunting).
